Road closures for 2014 Vitality Oxford Half Marathon

October 10, 2014 // Rachel Ellis

This Sunday (12th October) the Vitality Oxford Half Marathon will take place, starting and finishing at the Kassam Stadium.

Now in its fourth year, the Vitality Oxford Half Marathon is one of the most popular road races in the South of England, attracting a record 6,000 entrants and thousands of spectators, whilst also providing a platform for fundraising for a number of local charities and voluntary groups.

There will be staggered road closures in place along the course route on Sunday 12th October only, between 8.30amand 1pm. Organisers are asking road users to be patient while this once-a-year event takes place.

Andrew Taylor, Race Director of the Vitality Oxford Half Marathon commented: “Safety of our runners is our key priority, which is why we run the event on closed roads. The roads around the route are expected to be more congested than normal and we ask those that are using the highways to take extra care during this once-a-year event. We recognise that this may cause some short-lived inconvenience, but we hope that local residents will enjoy the spectacle and help support those running the half marathon to raise funds for good causes.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank residents living on and around the route for their support”.
