Amazing Line-up
There will be a whole host of local bands performing along the route, to keep runners motivated and bring the race to life. Jazz bands, a brass ensemble, steel drummers and cool DJs will provide the soundtrack for what promises to be a brilliant day out for the runners and all of their supporting crews!
The Ultrasounds
The Ultrasounds- Oxford’s award-winning all-male, all-medic acappella group!
The Ultrasounds is a singing ensemble of medical students, and performs regularly in the Oxford area and beyond. Our repertoire spans the choicest morsels of popular music from the ’60s to the present day. The Ultrasounds provide your recommended daily allowance of musical flair- just what the doctor ordered!
Steelband Music
Since being founded, in 2010, Steelband Music Ltd has been ‘Creating musical experiences’ across the UK and Europe. What’s more is that all of our steel pan teachers are seasoned players and talented musicians in other instruments too. They perform regularly both in the local community and at other events nationwide.

Sax & Honey
Sax & Honey are a husband and wife duo. Lynden and Andrea met by chance in a jazz club in Christchurch, New Zealand, in January 2000. Together, they formed a unique jazz duo, with cool, tenor sax tones and exquisite, velvet vocals.
The City of Oxford Silver Band
The City of Oxford Silver Band is Oxfordshire’s oldest brass band. We’ve been training new players and performing for over 125 years. We perform at public events all year round and are also available for private engagements.
We have players of all standards, and welcome enquiries from new players. With three bands to choose from, players of any standard can find a niche that suits them; but at every level, our primary focus is on enjoying ourselves making music together.
Oxford Drum Troupe
Founded in 1998, Oxford Drum Troupe plays vibrant African rhythms from Senegal, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Mali and many other countries. Studying music both in Africa and in the UK ODT play various African instruments, most commonly the drum called the “djembe”. ODT perform regularly at local music events such as the Cowley Road Carnival, Wallingford Bunkfest and many more.

Oxford Classic Jazz Band
The musicians who play in the Oxford Classic Jazz Band are among the best exponents of pre-war jazz in the country today. It has been described as “sheer elegance” and “bottled sunshine” by satisfied customers. Easy to dance to and played on real instruments at benign volume levels (including a real acoustic piano!), their performances regularly delight audiences in Oxford with their combination of musical interplay, delightful melodies and a beguiling swing which is both joyful and seductive.

Oxford Cherwell Brass
Oxford Cherwell Brass is Oxfordshire’s newest brass band, formed in April 2013, and is based in Kidlington. The band currently compete at 3rd section standard nationally, and put on several events each year raising money for charity and supporting local events. Mama Brass
Bringing funky brass / balkan / pop / hip-hop / fusion grooves right to your ears, down through your feet, and back again. On the streets, in the clubs, and on the stage, day and night, the spice of a brass band with a fresh grating of funk zest. ‘We love to make people move, and we love to perform. We’re currently working on some tasty new material, which we’ll be wheeling out over the next few months: keep an eye out!’
DJ G
Gary Smith AKA ‘DJ G’ is a well-known international DJ who works with communities throughout the UK and The United States. He believes strongly that music should be used for good.
“It is a force that can’t be underestimated. It changes lives for the better and brings joy and peace in our busy and hectic daily struggles.”
DJ G has spent more than 20 years being involved in a professional capacity with the music industry, whether through Radio, Dj-ing, Charity work or other promotional community projects.
Blewbury Brass Band is a vibrant band based in the South Oxfordshire village. We run a main band, which regularly gives concerts and plays at local events. We also run two training bands which encourage and develop our young players. We enjoy entertaining our audiences with traditional marches and brass band favourites but we also play modern pop, show and film music. Our music for the half-marathon has embraced the running theme and will be playing ‘500 Miles’, ‘Gonna Fly Now’ and Go the Distance.
Abbey Brass
We’re a brass band from Abingdon. As a registered charity, our aim is to provide brass instrument tuition, promote brass band music and stimulate interest in the art of playing. We have two bands, plus learner groups open to people of all ages who are interested in learning to read and play music. For £75 a year, we can supply an instrument and group tuition. Please also get in touch if you already play and want to join a band.
