Getting to the Start
Plan your journey now
There will be thousands of runners and spectators heading to the centre of Oxford on the morning of the race, so please plan your journey well in advance and allow plenty of time to get to the start. There will also be a number of road closures and diversions in place, and in addition, there are roadworks taking place on the main roundabouts to the north of Oxford. Please factor this into your travel plans. Road closure information can be found here.
BY CAR
Parking in central Oxford is extremely limited so we strongly recommend using the event-specific Park & Ride services (pre-booking highly recommended), for convenient, stress-free access into the city centre book the Park & Ride here.
BY BUS
For those travelling from the local and surrounding area, we recommend using the local bus services to access the event. All bus companies will be operating their normal Sunday services, though may be subject to diversions and extended journey times due to the road closures in place for the race. Please check before you travel.
BY TRAIN
It is approximately a one-mile walk from Oxford train station to the Race Village. Trains will be running to normal Sunday timetables so please check before you travel. There are a limited number of services that arrive in time for you to get to the race start, however for your return journey post-event there are good links to a number of destinations.
**Please note the 08:03 London Paddington service to Oxford does not arrive in time for you to start the race.**
CYCLING
A limited amount of event-specific triathlon bike racking will be available adjacent to the Race Village. To secure your bike to the rack, you need to lift the bike up and position thefront part of the saddle over the metal bar. There are also plenty of bike parking facilities available in Oxford city centre, which should be used if you plan to cycle to the event. In all cases, we recommend you lock your bike to the racking. Bikes are left at the owner’s risk and should only be left in designated areas. Please note that bike racking facilities in Broad Street will not be available on race day.
PARK & RIDE
The event Park & Ride service will be operating from the Pear Tree, Redbridge, Thornhill and Seacourt sites between 6.30am and 9.00am. We advise that tickets are purchased in advanced to save time on race day. Tickets cost £6.00 per car including a return bus ticket (additional passengers are £1.50 each). Places are limited and advance parking will close once spaces are full, therefore we advise that you book early to secure your car parking space. Please note that to avoid penalties you must park in the car park you booked – changes will not be possible. To assist with congestion, please car share where possible.
It is possible to pay for park and ride on the day. This will be charged at the normal rate of £2.80 per passenger and is payable in cash only on the day.
CLICK HERE to view the Park & Ride map for details of the car park sites and pick-up locations. Buses will drop off close to the Race Village and clear signs will direct runners and spectators towards the Race Village. Each of the four pick-up locations has a specific colour on the map that relates to the same colour car parks.
